FAQs
What is a makerspace?
A Makerspace is a learning environment rich with possibilities. As new hardware and software tools for making, digital design, and fabrication are emerging, we’re working together — with teachers, businesses and community leaders — to place those tools into the hands of a wider audience. We’re building the infrastructure for more kids and adults to connect to a future in which they can personally change, modify or “hack” the physical world, creating things that were nearly impossible to do on their own just a few years ago. Making is about getting hands-on, using these new technologies and basic tools, to do real and personally meaningful work.
What are your plans?
We plan to empower members of the community to continue learning, growing & creating. We will fulfill this plan in the following ways:
1. By offering classes, workshops, and presentations for the general public, we plan to support education on topics related to STEAM fields- science, technology, engineering, art & math.
2. By providing a collaborative work-space, equipment, training, and other resources to interested members of the public, we plan to promote scientific, technological, and artistic innovation and exploration.
3. Through collaboration and outreach with local institutions and organizations, we plan to promote interest in, and education about, the creative uses of technology, engineering, science and math.
4. Through education and research, we plan to encourage the environmentally responsible use, reuse, and repair of technology.
Where are you located?
Nowhere- yet! Or everywhere. We are currently fundraising to raise the capital to open the doors on our workshop, and we need your help! Every donation helps, and you can even pre-register as a member to help us get there faster. Check out our Sponsors & Donors page for more info.
